Willson Academy of Performing Arts opened its’ doors for the first time
in September 2005. We now have over 180 pupils taking part in classes
ranging from Modern, Tap, Street, Cheer, Ballet, Show Class and Musical
Theatre. I am supported by a fantastic team of professional and
enthusiastic teachers with a wealth of knowledge and experience in
their particular genre. All week day classes take place at Corpus
Christi
Catholic Primary School in New Malden, Surrey. All Saturday classes at
Richard Challoner School in New Malden.
All teachers are fully
qualifield and all have an enhanced CRB Checks.
We offer a varied timetable for children of all ages and follow the International Dance
Teachers Association (IDTA) syllabus. We have completed 7 exam
sessions with 100% pass rates.
Our aim is to provide a well structured theatrical
curriculum within a caring atmosphere, where young children and
students can develop their love of dance and theatre, whether for
enjoyment or as the basis for a professional career.
As ballet is the strong foundation for all dance genres, we start our
very young budding ballerinas with Melody Bear
First Ballet classes, which are specifically geared towards young
children developing a natural love of dance and movement. This then
leads to the beginning of preparatory ballet and formal classes. We
have also recently added 'Tip Tap Toe'
and Groovy
Moves Modern classes for our budding young dancers, which work
alongside and compliment Melody Bear ballet.

At the other end of the spectrum for children who are
excelling in classical ballet, there is the opportunity to take part in
the Junior/Senior Associate classes as part of the outreach programme
for the Royal Ballet School. This exists to nurture young
talented children in their pursuit of excellence in pre-vocational
classical ballet.
We provide opportunities for all students in which ever classes they
have decided to participate in, to experience the excitement of
performance. The whole school is involved in our bi-annual shows.
We also take production numbers to 'Her Majesty's Theatre' in the in
the West end. Added to this, children from Willson Academy are
encouraged to audition
and perform with other production companies to enhance and hone their
performance skills.

Willson Academy is recognized by the Council for Dance
Education and Training as a
pre-vocational Dance and Musical Theatre school. This guarantee assures
parents that all teachers have had an enhanced CRB check and are all
qualified in their field of dance expertise, as well as nine other
areas of competency.

CHALLONER SCHOOL' in New Malden. They have wonderful facilities

our new 'home' on Saturday the 2nd of March 2013.
